The Simplest, Hardest Thing

Walking this Earth as a human is so humbling, mysterious, and wonderful. The perennial wisdom of those who have inquired deeply into the nature of reality, those who have penetrated the hubris of suffering to reconnect with their own inner light, constantly calls us back to this moment, to simply be aware of what is.

Freedom and peace are here, in this moment. Where else do we experience anything?

Being aware is not complicated. Yet we've trained to live through and as the mind. And unless we offer ourselves opportunities to examine our inner workings, we cannot experience the distinction between thought and awareness.

It is glimpsing this distinction, and progressively recognizing awareness as Self, and the mind as a process that is being observed/experienced by awareness, that eventually brings the freedom we crave with all our heart and soul.

Be aware is simple; it's not easy. It takes practice, persistence, and grace.

Yet each moment when I am aware, the beauty, harmony, and radiant relatedness of all existence strikes to my core - bringing an explosion of ecstasy, gratitude, silent joy.

And isn't that what we are looking for with all the doing?
